  • Loopt Mix

UI & UX flow for V1

Loopt Mix was a break-out iPhone application by Loopt. Brainstormed and wireframed in one weekend, the app quickly came to life with sponsored "communities" such as TechCrunch and became popular amongst a niche market in the US. The end result replicated a real life serendipitous meeting via a mobile app.

  • Loopt: Facebook

    Design, UI & UX flow

Back in mid-2007 when Facebook launched its platform, Loopt jumped on board quickly. The Loopt: Where It Is Facebook application synced a user's Loopt mobile updates to Facebook, where any of the user's Facebook friends could see what he was up to and leave comments on his posts. Facebook-only Loopt friends could also share what's up via this application, thus adding more content for the user to engage with.

  • Loopt: Facebook

    Design, UI & UX flow

Part of the user flow for the Loopt: Where It Is Facebook application. Once your location has been pinned on the map, this dialogue asks you to share some information about what's up.

  • Loopt: iPhone

    Design, UI & UX flow

Loopt was the first location-based service (LBS) application on the App Store. Designing Loopt for iPhone was not simply porting the Loopt Mobile app onto the iPhone platform, but a design challenge in creating an application that would change social norms and user the power of location to improve your relationships. With over 1 million downloads in the APp Store, Loopt won several awards including Best Mobile App award from MobileBeat in 2008, Best Community and Social Networking App from BREW 2008 and a Webby award.

  • Loopt: Mobile

    Design, UI & UX flow

Back when smart phones were limited to Blackberries used by corporate folk, I designed the Loopt mobile application, which was available on feature handsets via partnerships with mobile carriers. This was the first social location-based mobile application, following a series of parent-child tracker apps. I introduced the idea of "What's Up" - the real-time and location based status message of early 2007.

  • Veoh

    Design, UI & UX flow

Veoh's first desktop app was the Veoh Client, a simple way to download and view content. Within a year, that evolved into Veoh TV - a 10' UI experience that was aimed at breaking internet video into your television - an unheard of idea in 2006. The desktop client was likened to iTunes for video and quickly became an online hub for anime fan-subs and old films.

  • Veoh

Design, UI & UX flow, HTML/CSS, JSP

Before YouTube had won the UGC video war, Veoh was a major contender in the space. I designed the first UI for browsing user generated content on the web, which was quickly mimicked by other competitors in the space. The UI integrated social features (profiles, friends, comments) with dynamically created channels and "similar videos" lists to engage and retain users.
